Intercambio Gráfica Printmaking Exchange: NY – Mazatlán is an exciting exchange
of art and ideas between three graphic studios and ten artists. This international exchange
between Glen Rogers Studio and Taller de Gráfica Experimental in Mazatlán, Mexico
and BluSeed Studios, Saranac Lake, NY culminated in a traveling exhibition currently
showing at BluSeed Studios. The show was inaugurated at the Rubio Gallery at the
Angela Peralta Theatre in Mazatlán January 21 through March 1. Monotypes, photo-
etchings, hand-made paper, linoleum and woodblock and mixed media prints are
featured.

From January 18th through the 25th the artists affiliated with BluSeed Studios, Nancy
Brossard, John La Falce, Katherine Levin-Lau, Carol Marie Vossler, and Larry Poole,
worked in the studio of Glen Rogers, held demonstrations, and exchanged ideas with the
students and teachers of the Centro Municipal de Artes. Art Professor Lucila Santiago
hosted the artists from New York in her classes to share their expertise in printmaking.

In July, the 5 artists from Mazatlán; Gia Alexander, Mark Jay, Glen Rogers, Lucila
Santiago, and Rafael Avila Tirado, traveled to Saranac Lake for 10 days to work at
Bluseed Studios. There they had the opportunity to work in the papermaking and print
studios and shared their techniques with local artists. But in both locations, the exchange
went far beyond the studios as the artists had the opportunity to experience the culture,
enjoy the diverse environments, and make lasting friendships.

The exchange was the developed by Katherine Levin-Lau, Glen Rogers, and Carol
Marie Vossler. Levin-Lau and Rogers had shared studio space earlier in the careers.

Below is a link to a radio interview on NCPR (North Country Public Radio)
with Carol Marie Vossler, Lucila Santiago, Rafael Avila, Mark Jay and Glen Rogers
while visiting Saranac Lake in July.
